Coming in March! Improve how you Feel, Breathe, and Move...
- Natural Bodies Studio Combination Classes: Take classes combining Elements of Ballet with Natural Body Movement, OR Pilates Mat with Natural Body Movement in a separate class. In each, you have the opportunity to learn Bartenieff Fundamentals and practice Creative Movement and Personal Development through the lens of Laban Movement Analysis.
- 45-Minute Gentle Mat: Fantastic late morning exercise (and just before lunch-time!), this 45-Minute class combines Pilates Fundamentals with balance, stretch bands, and weight bearing exercise. This is a great class for new students! Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:00am
- Friday 3:30 Mat Mix (Starts March 19th): Get your body toned and stretched and ready for your weekend activities in this class designed for those who have tried Pilates Mat and are ready for a little more challenge.
- Tuesday 3:20 Yoga with Julie Peoples-Clark: Accessible to all, this class is designed to help students cultivate their own personal practice, keeping the unique needs of each day and each body in mind.
- Restorative Yoga with Julie Peoples-Clark, Sunday, March 21, 4:00-5:45PM : Restorative yoga is a gentle practice that allows the body to open at its own pace. Using props for support, we hold poses without effort or force. Deeply relaxing, students leave with an expanded awareness of their bodies' unique holding patterns. Space is limited, please register early. $14.25 drop-in rate. (Current students, use your class card as for a combination class).

We check messages regularly and will reply with your confirmation. As a matter of courtesy to other students and instructors, we request a 24-hour cancellation or re-scheduling notice, and charge the regular class fee for late cancellations and classes missed without notice. We appreciate your attendance! We wish to make every visit pleasant and to help you get the most from your sessions in a safe and comfortable studio. We respect the privacy and very personal nature of the process of change for each student, and ask that our students do the same for each other. Class Descriptions
Pilates Classes
Beginning Mat Mix: Perfect for beginning students, this class combines the fundamentals of Pilates exercise with the deepening awareness of Natural Body Movement, along with specialized exercises for balance and flexibility.
(Monday morning: 55-minutes, Tuesday Thursday: 45-Minutes) Maximum class size: 10
Level 1 Mat : Pilates Exercise on the mat, and standing balance with the Ultra-Fit Circle, stretch bands, and weights.
(55-minutes) Maximum class size: 10
Mat Mix: These sessions include Level 1 and Intermediate Pilates Exercise (or Advanced, depending on the level of the class as a whole) with standing balance and movement the Pilates Fit Circle, stretch bands, and hand weights. This class is for students who have taken Mat classes regularly and are ready to learn and practice more challenging exercises.
(55-minutes) Maximum class size: 10
Reformer 1: A combination of Reformer, Cadillac, and Mat exercises. Please note: An average of 3 private sessions are required prior to joining Reformer classes. These sessions are designed to familiarize new students with the equipment and the Classical Format Pilates sessions.
(55 minutes) Maximum class size: 6
Reformer 1 & 2 Mix: Deepen your body-mind connection and enhance your coordination, flexibility, and strength. Exercises in this class include preparations for Level 2 classes.

Reformer 2 : Deepen your body-mind connection and enhance your coordination, flexibility, and strength. Special package rate available for private sessions to learn Level 2 exercises that advance your strength, coordination, balance, and lung capacity.

Reformer 2 & 3: Challenge your endurance, mental focus, balance, and coordination with advanced exercises designed to maximize your strength and flexibility.

Natural Movement and Ballet Barre
Natural Body Movement: Cultivate inner awareness, easeful mobility, and creativity, and develop advanced awareness of movement function and expression through Bartenieff Fundamentals and Laban based movement practices.

Elements of Ballet:: Stimulate your creative spirit, whole body awareness, and sense of artistry with lessons in classical ballet technique. Enjoy the sensation of improving your posture, flexibility, and strength. Lucille has taught and choreographed for dancers of all ages and abilities, and brings her teaching expertise to every student. For beginning level teens and adults. Combination Classes
Mat and Cadillac Combination: Challenge your strength and coordination with Classical Pilates Mat exercises combined with the springs and roll-down bar on the tower at the head of the Reformer. The benefits include greater control for some exercises, and more challenge in others. A basic familiarity with Level 1 Mat exercises and studio safety guidelines required prior to registering for this class.

Pilates Mat & Natural Movement: For those ready to advance their practice, this class combines the deepening awareness of Natural Body Movement with Pilates Mat exercise.
(1 hour, 15 minutes) Maximum class size: 6
Elements of Ballet and Natural Body Movement:: Deepen you understanding of how your body moves and enhance your expressivity in this combination class. For beginning level teens and adults. Ballet shoes recommended; to buy shoes locally, check our "Resources / Links"
(1 hour, 15 Minutes) Maximum class size: 6
Yoga and Meditation
Yoga: Julie's classes integrate all aspects of life to maintain our natural condition of an easeful body, a peaceful mind, and a useful life. The class begins with a concentration on the flow of breathing then body warm-ups and yoga postures, leading into deep relaxation and a short meditation. It is designed to help students of all levels and abilities cultivate their own personal practice, keeping the unique needs of each day and each body in mind. This class is accessible to all---beginners, as well as yogis of all styles as an option to slow down, tune in, and enjoy union with the present moment.
(1 hour, 15 minutes) Maximum class size: 8
Meditation: Integrate body, mind, and spirit through guided meditation, and learn a variety of meditation exercises to relax and relieve stress. Beginners welcome.
5-Week session starts again in 2010 (45-minutes) Maximum class size: 12
Open and Private Studio
Open studio: time is available to students, teachers, and guests with at least 30 Reformer/Tower classes, and a specific exercise program written by a certified Pilates instructor.
Private Studio: Available to Certified Pilates instructors for independent practice or scheduling private appointments in the Cadillac Room, complete with Trapeze/ Reformer Convertable, Ladder Barrel, Chair, and Spine Corrector. Advance paid reservations required.
There are no registration or membership fees. Take the classes you want, when you like!

Any scheduled class with at least one space reserved will be taught. Any class without prior (24-hr) reservations may be canceled without notice. To get started in your Pilates program: Schedule a free 1/2-hour consultation to see the studio and discover the plan that will best fit your needs. We offer specially designed private sessions, a 3-Session Introductory package to prepare for Reformer classes, and a full compliment of Mat, Reformer, Integrative movement, and Elements of Ballet classes that you can take individually to get the full benefits or our unique program. All classes are designed for generally healthy students with no chronic bone, joint or health issues or current injuries, and private sessions designed to teach practice of safe modifications are highly recommended for students with these concerns.
New Reformer Students: Schedule a free group introduction to the Reformer (see schedule), or get a great price for a private introduction by appointment. After an introduction, new Reformer students take an average of 3 private (specially priced) sessions prior to joining classes. These sessions are designed to familiarize new students with the equipment and the Classical Format Pilates exercises, and to help new students understand the safety and personal responsiblity considerations essential for effective group classes. Please note: not all students are ready for classes after 3 sessions, and may be required to schedule additional private sessions prior to joining a class.
Students with prior Reformer experience: Please schedule a free brief consultation prior to scheduling a class. Due to variations in teaching methods, class content, and equipment, new students may be asked to attend an orientation prior to attending classes. For students ready to advance to more challenging sessions, ask about our Level 2 and 3 packages.
New Mat Students: Please phone ahead with any questions and to reserve your space in classes, and arrive early to complete a brief health history. Please feel free to bring your own mat (and towel if needed), or use a mat provided by the studio.
